Plex just won't get the specials episode info right

Post by koriyuu »

Hello,

I am fairly new to digging deeper into the FileBot so please excuse me if this question is dumb. (I have been using FileBot for awhile but this time I am finally reorganizing my Anime library to comply with Plex naming scheme.)

I am currently using Absolute Series Scanner in conjunction with HAMA as an agent.

From what I understood, as long as I use the organize episodes for plex preset, it would be picked up by the scanner and read the file name to match the episode. It works mostly fine in regular episodes but it seems like Plex is going complete bonkers for the specials folder.

For example, the file name suggests that it's S01 from the anime according to anidb but it seems like it's fetching different episode order.

How do I fix this? I will attach few images to show my current setup.

As you can see even though file name suggests it's S01 of the series but it matches something completely different.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 Please share sample file paths as text so I can recreate your use case and run a few tests.

 Generally speaking, Plex requires standard TMDB / TVDB naming and numbering (HAMA is a unofficial 3rd party plugin that I myself am not very familiar with) so if you have AniDB named files and want a good Plex experience, out-of-the-box without 3rd party plugins, then you will need to convert your files to standard S00E00 naming and numbering. This can be tricky depending on the series / season at hand, but How do I convert AniDB Absolute numbers to TheTVDB Airdate SxE numbers? will help a long way to get you there.

 As for ideal naming for the HAMA 3rd party scraper? I don't know. The {plex} format is not really designed / tested for that. Might work. Might not.

EDIT
:!: Note that Gekijouban Kyoukai no Kanata: I`ll Be Here is a Movie in AniDB. FileBot does not support Movie Mode: AniDB. If you try to match a AniDB movie in Episode Mode: AniDB then something undefined will happen. In the absence of a correct match existing in the first place, FileBot will likely match "next best thing" which is bound to be incorrect.

 The correct naming for this collection of movies might look like this:

Code: Select all

Movies/Beyond the Boundary - I'll Be Here – Past (2015) {tmdb-311056}/Beyond the Boundary - I'll Be Here – Past (2015)
Movies/Beyond the Boundary - I'll Be Here – Future (2015) {tmdb-333622}/Beyond the Boundary - I'll Be Here – Future (2015)
 Please read the FAQ and How to Request Help.
