Filebot Not conecting

Post by samrohi »

Just purchased an annual license the other day for this wonderful utility but the latest version does not even connect to the servers to fetch names. The rotation animation in the right window just keeps going on. I am not really keen on getting a refund as I appreciate this tool. I hope to find a solution here. I drag and drop movie folders and press Fetch > Automatic but it does not seem to work at all

:?: Are you using a VPN?

:?: What does the log say?

:?: Have you tried running tests with a small number of files / a single file? What is the file name of the file you're testing with?

:idea: The error message says that FileBot cannot connect to api.themoviedb.org specifically. Maybe the site is temporarily not working. Maybe the site has blocked your IP. Maybe your ISP is blocking the site. You could try to use ChatGPT to troubleshoot your network (network debugging is complicated) and maybe find some clues that way.

:arrow: The easy solution would be to use a different network connection, e.g. do use VPN, or your the internet from your mobile phone, WIFI at a coffee shop, etc. Connections to api.themoviedb.org at this point in time work from where I'm sitting, and likely from mostly everywhere else:

Console Output: Select all

$ ping api.themoviedb.org
Pinging api.themoviedb.org [3.175.86.67] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 3.175.86.67: bytes=32 time=211ms TTL=239
