Allow the Original Files and New Names panes in the Rename window to be inspected independently

Post by cheaters »

Allow the Original Files and New Names panes in the Rename window to be inspected independently. Currently, moving the divider changes both panes together, making it difficult to compare long source and destination filenames. Independent horizontal scrolling or independent column sizing for each pane would make reviewing long filenames much easier.

Thanks a bunch :!:

 You'll want to use the Inspect ➔ Match view (Keyboard Shortcut: SPACE) to check and compare original file / match object / custom format output / destination file. That way you'll get the entire screen width for your long file path and differences are also easier to spot if each text field is aligned vertically.

Could this be the default view? I think it's a much better way of viewing proposed changes. I've struggled with the same issue. Another request would be to allow resizing of Original and New Name sections as most of the time for me, the original is just a file name while the New Name gives the full path. So 2:8 ratio would work great for me in screen proportion.

 Just hit SPACE to toggle this additional view on or off in the blink of an eye as needed. I would consider making changes to the match view to better support your use case though. Though making it default for everyone (though it might make sense for your use case) is not something that makes sense to me at this point.

Thank you. That's fair. What about a tooltip or something to make it very obvious this is an option? I wasn't aware of this until I found this post.

 The Inspect menu item is the easy-to-discover way to find this feature:

 I'll see about including this feature in the next video tutorial somehow just to make it easy to find for users that go through the video tutorials.
