The Runner (2026) not matching

Hi RedNoah, Hopefully this is the right place to post!

As you can see from this screenshot, "the Runner (2026)" matches with "The Maze Runner Runner (2014)"



But if i edit the match to explicitly say "The Runner (2026), then it does match




Is this a bug? Is it something I am doing wrong? Is it because there are 3 movies from 2026 called the Runner? Should I Start adding TMDB IDs to my naming convention?

This mismatch also occurs in the command line. This is using version 5.2.3

I've tried with a new empty file named The Runner (2026).mkv and the latest beta and it matches right away:

EDIT: So for me FileBot matches The Runner (2026) which also isn't the correct match. You probably want the other The Runner (2026). Since I'm testing with empty files, my FileBot probably isn't able to figure out the more likely one based on movie duration. I have no idea why you get neither one of these The Runner (2026) matches.



That said, mismatches can happen for all kinds of reasons. The one shown in the screenshot above shouldn't happen for sure... but the Edit Match button is there for this and other cases. In any case, do report strange behaviours like this so we can investigate and see what we can do about it.

Should I Start adding TMDB IDs to my naming convention?

Yes, but not for FileBot. We typically use FileBot to add the TMDB to make search and lookup predictable for anything that comes after. If you're processing files that have already been processed and identified by FileBot previously, then the re-process previously organized files using local xattr metadata approach can be used to quickly re-match files to the previously confirmed movie match.

Ah sorry I jumped the gun with sending, I mean I'll get Sonarr, Radarr to add it.
