Yep, the API indeed does seem to only return the first 100 episodes:

Seems to be related to recent TheTVDB updates:

Yes, but you might need to clear the cache as well to purge invalid episode listings from the cache.

If an update for TheTVDB v2 API is necessary for the recent changes, then it will need a few days. No changes have been implemented. I think the TheTVDB folks are doing their best to restore compatibility on their end, but I'll look into things on my end as well over the weekend.

Just use TheMovieDB::TV or TVmaze for the time being. No need to revert to ice age tooling.

Newer revisions of the amc script all you to customize which database is being used, just like with -rename --db calls.

In series mode, nfo / artwork support is only available for TheTVDB. If a different database is selected, then the amc script will skip artwork.

Probably not a good idea to change primary database.

The current implementation is simple, because if it's just a few lines of code, so why not add an option for that? But there's certain options that I would prefer only advanced users to know about, just in case, if really needed, but definitely not something you want to override willy nilly.
