Blank Grey Screen - FileBot & DWM Window Manager

Am I missing something? I have installed FileBot on Arch and Debian using DWM Window Manager, but I cannot see the usual dialogue when I open the application. All I get is a blank grey screen and am completely unable to use the application I have paid for. The application works fine using any Desktop Environment; so I can only assume "something" is missing to enable FileBot to work correctly. Any ideas, please? BTW the Snap packages and the Flatpak versions are exactly the same in appearance as the AUR version and the .deb file respectively. None of them work as they should.

Maybe Easy fix if the filebot GUI shows a grey screen and you use the sway window manager (and possibly others) will help? The issue is likely somewhat generic affecting different applications, so a generic Google search might also yield some workarounds you could try.

Thanks but no, because this refers to a Wayland issue but DWM runs on Xorg. Filebot will work on pretty much any desktop environment using Xorg, but doesn’t seem to like Window Managers. That’s what makes me think that there is “something” present in desktop environments using Xorg which is not present in window managers using Xorg. Surprised me that dwm refused FileBot in Arch and Debian. And I did Google for some time but with no success I’m afraid.

Gray window, applications not resizing with WM, menus immediately closing has a few things you could try:

Shell: Select all

wmname LG3D

Shell: Select all

_JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1

Shell: Select all

AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit

thanks for the suggestions, but none of them work, I'm afraid. It's a pity that "something" is preventing me from using the application if I am using DWM. It works fine everywhere else. I have checked and both the java 17 JDK and JRE are installed

After further investigation, my apologies. I had not sufficiently researched the solutions you proposed, due to a lack of knowledge. Once I understood what you were trying to tell me, I have now sorted it. Again thank you. I had not realised that I needed to read the hyperlinked article you quoted. Once I had done that I downloaded wmname from the suckless server, followed the instructions and the suggested wmname LG3D completely solved the dilemma.
