Renaming Multi-episode files, with multiple titles.

Post by level42 »

I have a show, that is currently 3 episodes in 1.

According to the DVD order, it is

1.1 - Episode 1
1.2 - Episode 2
1.3 - Episode 3

The issue I'm having is when I try to rename these episode with FileBot, I get a result like.

Show - S01E01 - Episode 3

Where as what I'm looking for is:

Show - S01E01 - Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3

I can't figure out how to get all the episode names in the new title.

Any suggestions?

1.3 means S01E03 and not "S01E01 Part 3". One file can have multiple episodes, but one episode cannot have multiple files.

A file that contains Episodes 1, 2 and 3 would be named S01E01-E03 or S01E01E02E03. If files are named correctly, then FileBot can easily match that file to all the episodes, and you'll also get multiple episode numbers and multiple titles.

A file called "Show - S01E01 - Episode 3" will be interpreted as Episode 1x01 that just so happens to be titled "Episode 3".

Thanks for the quick reply.

Please allow me to clarify.

The show I'm trying to fix is "Animaniacs"

Currently I have the file named like so:

Animaniacs - S01E01-E03 - De-Zanitized + The Monkey Song + Nighty-Night Toon.avi

This was done manually using the TV Airing order, and now I want to switch it to the DVD order.

All 3 episodes are in 1 file.

But when I process that exact file name through FileBot, I get this result:

Animaniacs - S01E01 - Nighty-Night Toon.avi

And what I'm looking for is:

Animaniacs - S01E01 - De-Zanitized + The Monkey Song + Nighty-Night Toon.avi

Is this possible?

[Edit 1]

This is what I get when I match using the DVD Order:

[Edit 2]

I have not worked with DVD Order before so I'm a bit new to this.

Ultimately I guess I'm looking for the following output:

Animaniacs - S01E01-E03 - De-Zanitized + The Monkey Song + Nighty-Night Toon
or
Animaniacs - S01E01 - De-Zanitized + The Monkey Song + Nighty-Night Toon

Whichever is the correct way to deal with this.

And albeit my episode looks correct now, I still need to rename them because I have them sorted via TV Aired ordered, and I need them by DVD order.

I see. There's some really weird numbering going on here. "Sub-Episode-Numbering" such as Season 1 Episode 1.1 is not supported.

But that's how it's done via TvDB: http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=season ... &order=dvd

Isn't this how all DVD orderings work?

IDK. That shit is new to me!

2.
FileBot is surprisingly good at dealing with new shit... some code adjustments were necessary though. Please try the latest r3569 and see if it's working now:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1609

This kind of change might result in unexpected side-effects and break existing functionality. Please help me test the new revision thoroughly.
