Hi
So I recently just re-installed Windows, with File Bot once again, and got this reminder to install JAVA
The current popup links to JAVA SE download page, which I reckon is confusing for most users
It might be best linking to JRE download directly for the consumer package people actually need?
I also plan to forward users of my app to Filebot, so a straightforward install is best for everyone :]
Easy Java JRE link
Re: Easy Java JRE link
java.com is shit. The installer contains adware and it'll recommend 32-bit JRE on 64-bit Windows. I would never recommend anything but the official Oracle packages.
Here are my recommendations for deployment on all supported platforms:

Re: Easy Java JRE link
I get your point, although I wouldn't say it's "shit", since the adware is optional, and the manual download link I posted also allows to pick 64-bit versions (in a clearer way than oracle.com IMO)
Re: Easy Java JRE link
java.com is all about Java applets and the browser plugin and there's lots of misleading information because of that. Applets will be deprecated with Java 9 so if they also clean up their act with java.com then I'll consider changing the help link.
