DVD boxed set from 1975
DVD boxed set from 1975
Hi
Have now installed FileBot to help naming and of my DVD collection.
Problem- FileBot is (understandably) struggling to find one of my DVD sets. It’s BBC 1975 (I’m ancient) called Poldark. This consists of 4 boxes/8 DVDs/29 episodes. The DVDs start on Series 1, Volume 1, disc 1, ending Series 2, Volume 2, disc 2. I’m using episode mode and TMDB to search. The problem is FB pairs them with eight episodes, (not DVDs), and these are from the later 2015 series.
I can understand being stymied due to 50 year old series, but worried that FB can’t ever match to other DVD compilations of this sort?
I think there may very well be a way to search for DVD titles but couldn’t find that option in the app.
Any advice would be much appreciated,
Thanks

Thanks. I’ll take a look. Would be more instructive if videos were slower with audio
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Hi again
Had a look now but struggling. Since each DVD file contains multiple (about three) episodes, won’t I have to select multiple episode items etc. Can’t you provide you provide an idiot proof guide to a 66 year old license holder? I’ve tried searching for episodes without the original files loaded, and that pulls all 29 episodes but there seems to be random episode number listed after each if “Poldark-S01E01-Episode 11”
Just need brief series of steps. Apologies if already covered in tutorial.
Thanks again

Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Ripped and re authored each DVD per video file.
There are 16 episodes in series 1, so probably 4 per DVD. There are 13 in series 2, so could be any permutation in the 4 files.
Happy to do this but can you explain how?
Thanks for your patience and expertise. It is much appreciated.
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975

1. drop files on the left in Rename
2. then fetch episodes in Episodes and then send them to Rename
3. then Double-Click <New Names> item ➔ Edit Match and select the correct set of episodes that are in the file at hand as desired
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Hi again
Update. Thanks for the process. I followed your advice. I edit matched the first matched list to the relevant episodes, renamed etc. So far so good. However, when I moved them to Plex, they appeared in a completely different order. Ie the file order after FileBot edit match were Poldark - S01E01-E04 -Episode 1 & Episode 2 to 4 onwards to Poldark - S02E13 Episode 291. Not sure how/where 291 came from? After moving to Plex, the files start from Poldark Episode 10 S2 -E10, the Episode 9 S2 E9 and so on. So the order and nomenclature is different. I also note the pictures relate to the 2015 series.
May just be in the too difficult box?
Thanks

Code: Select all
TV Shows/Poldark {tmdb-35091}/Season 01/Poldark - S01E01-E04 - Episode 1 & Episode 2 & Episode 3 & Episode 4
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Thanks again. Will drill down as they say. Plex settings-where do I find the one to check TMDB etc.
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Maybe Right-Click <Library> ➔ Advanced Settings?
https://support.plex.tv/articles/advanc ... ies-agent/Episode Ordering: How episodes are named/numbered on disk. If your naming follows The MovieDB or TheTVDB choose that here.
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Thanks. Will let you know how I get on.
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
I couldn’t find episode ordering in library/advanced. There is something under Agents (Legacy) There is a sub head for TVDB but it won’t let me tick the TVDB box. I can tick the Movie Database though.
Realise I missed your earlier question. No idea what custom format I’m using in FB?
Thanks

Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Yep, that's something for you to figure out. I don't see what you see, so I can only nudge you into the the right direction. Bottomline, Plex is using either TMDB or TVDB, based on your library / agent settings, and that's the database that must be selected to name and number episodes in FileBot. [FAQ] Why can I not use TheTVDB and TheMovieDB interchangeably? explains why this is very important for certain corner cases.
You'll want to configure {plex.id} as custom format then. Please watch the [FAQ] How do I organize files for Plex? video tutorial to see how you can set {plex.id} as custom format.
Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Thanks. Noted re setting Plex.ID. Definitely no episode ordering in advanced library settings. Using 1.112.0.359-0d79a49f Plex for Windows and 1.422.10156 Plex Server.

Re: DVD boxed set from 1975
Thought you’d said episodes and databases found by right clicking libraries etc. In my case, the settings seem to be in Agent (Legacy), which is separate from the library section within settings.
The only relevant option in that seems to be “the Movie Database”. (No Movie or TVDB in the others). This asks you to identify additional agents to contribute to metadata from the MD etc. I can select 3/4 items with that relating to Movie Database already selected and greyed out. Guess that makes sense.
I just can’t find your options in settings/library or settings/agents(legacy)
Presumably, the screenshot showing Plex Series etc is after you’ve highlighted a library?
(Have used Plex.id in custom format in FB.
Thanks again.
